New Beginnings!

The first of (hopefully) many blog posts to come! Lately, I've been pretty fed up with Instagram. Both due to Meta's data selling practices and lack of privacy, as well as falling victim to the algorithm of doom and despair. I had the realization that perhaps a personal website like this one might help with that. I made this site back in 2024 and have only updated it sporadically since then, but I feel like it has a lot of potential to be something more. I don't think I'll completely delete Instagram (not yet, at least), since I feel like a lot of my social life is currently connected to it. However, using this site (possibly to replace my sapm account? I'm still deciding on that...) seems more feasible and is most likely a better form of self-expression regardless.

We're playing Danzón No. 2 by Arturo Márquez for our orchestra concert. It's quite a fun piece to listen to...ableit not my favorite to actually play. It is quite repetitive and there more key changes than I would prefer. I've asked a couple people in my class and it seems that this is the general consensus as well.

Also...Whiplash is not a personal favorite movie for me, but I can really appreciate its merit as a film. The viewer is truly able to experience "whiplash" through Fletcher's characterization, the juxtaposition of different shot types, and of course, the literal whiplash from [SPOILER] near the end of the film. I also found Andrew's character arc incredibly satisfying to watch, though I feel like I cannot divulge much more without spoiling most of the movie.
